First-Year Students
A MyUCR admissions portal account (My.UCR.EDU) was created for you. An email with your username and instructions for creating a password was sent to the email address provided in your UC Application. If you did not receive an email, contact Undergraduate Admissions at admissions@ucr.edu/ask or (951) 827-3411.
Check My.UCR.EDU often for personalized information, checklists, provisions of admission, deadlines, test scores, admissions status, and next step reminders! You can also download our Next Steps to Enrollment for First-Year Students checklist.

Step 1: SIR to accept admission by May 1
- Today: Visit My.UCR.EDU to review provisions of admission and submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) by May 1.
- International First-Year Students Only: Check your inbox for an email from UCR regarding your I-20 Form application. Use the link provided in the email to submit your I-20 Form application and upload the necessary documents.
- March: If invited via email, apply to join University Honors.
- May 15: Deadline to submit your SIR.
- On-Going: Once you SIR, view all messages in your new R’Mail account. Once you SIR, you’ll receive a new R'Mail account (a UCR email account) within a couple of days. ALL email correspondences will be sent to your R'Mail account INSTEAD of your personal email address. Be sure to check your account regularly and use it for all university email communications.

Step 2: Apply for financial aid by March 2.
- By March 2: Deadline to submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act (DREAM) Application, and verify that a certified GPA was submitted to the California Student Aid Commission by your community college. UCR school codes: 001316 (FAFSA) and 001316 (DREAM)
- If you have already applied for financial aid, view your award notices at My.UCR.EDU.

Step 3: Take the UC Analytical Writing Placement Exam (AWPE) if needed.
If you didn’t satisfy the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement by April 1, you must take the AWPE. This exam is required of all first-year students, but the results won’t affect your admission status.

Step 4: Secure campus housing by May 10.
Campus housing is first-come, first-served. Once you SIR, submit the housing contract/application and first housing payment by May 10.
- March 1: Housing contracts become available.
- By May 10: Meet housing deadlines for guaranteed housing.
It is not possible to know at this time whether the COVID-19 pandemic will result in changes to operations in student housing and residential life in academic year 2020–21. Consequently, we are not offering a housing guarantee.

Step 5: Submit the Statement of Legal Residence and financial aid.
- By May 15: Submit your Statement of Legal Residence (SLR).
- By June 1: Submit financial aid documents, if applicable.
- Before Orientation: Upload a selfie for your future R’Card identification card.

Step 6: Register for Highlander Orientation (mandatory).
Explore UCR's campus and traditions, talk with academic advisors, schedule classes, learn how to get involved on campus, meet other incoming students, and more. Attending orientation is a provision of UCR admission.
- By June 8: Register for Highlander Orientation for U.S. resident first-year students or international first-year students.
- July or August: Attend one of 11 two-day orientation options for U.S. resident first-year students.
- Late September: Attend the one-week orientation for international first-year students.

Step 7: Submit final admission documents.
- By July 1: Submit official final high school and college transcripts.

- May: If invited via email, apply to join University Honors.
- June 1: Deadline to submit your SIR.

Highlander Orientation (Mandatory)
