Over the next four weeks, Undergraduate Admissions' transfer team is hosting a series of webinars for community college students who are ready to transfer to a UC. The virtual Puente Connection Summer Series is open to students at California Community Colleges who are part of the Puente program.

"We encourage transfer student to attend to learn more about the transfer process directly from students like them who have already transferred, get to know UCR faculty, [and] show off their creative talent with an open mic grand finale," says Jessica Verazas, assistant director or transfer recruitment and evaluation.

Hosted Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from May 18 through June 10, the series will introduce attendees to UCR faculty, academic programs, and supportive resources, as well as walk them through the admissions and financial aid processes. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with Puente alumni and step into the spotlight at an open mic event that will close out the series.

"Anyone participating in the series can show off their creative talent in safe virtual space," Verazas says. "UCR Creative Writing Professor and novelist Alex Espinoza will be hosting our open mic night."

Registration is required for the series, which will be hosted on Zoom. All sessions will be recorded and archived online. Visit admissions.ucr.edu/puentesummer to check out the agenda and register for the Puente Connection Summer Series.
